A meticulously researched history of higher education in Ethiopia from its earliest promulgation through the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church to its institutionalization with the development and expansion of the Haile Selassie I University. Written by Dr. Aklilu Habte, a former President of the University (1969-1974), who helped Haile Selassie realize his vision for the development and expansion of higher education in Ethiopia. Dr. Habte would later serve as Director of Education and Training for World Bank and then as Chief of UNICEF’s Education Division and Special Advisor to UNICEF’s Executive Director.
