Rastafari A Contemporary Theological Social Movement

$19.95

Rastafari in its being is a collective. It theologically links the past to the future. It is the focal point of where one stands in relation to JAH (god). It transcends ideological barriers. It embodies African consciousness. It provides marginalized communities with a forum for activism and resistance. Its’ ‘Ital livity’ (natural living) embodies an organic and sustainable lifestyle. The forced transatlantic migration and dehumanization by white supremacist from Africa to the West positions these enchanted African souls whose presence in the western hemisphere, although socially peripheral, was intentionally orchestrated, as Africans became the pawns, the brute and stalwart of the then prevailing economic system – Mercantilism, as the Transatlantic trade in Africans became a way of life. A response to the call from His Imperial Majesty to become purveyors, activist and vanguard for equal rights and Justice for Africans at home and abroad is embedded in “Come onto me, ye that labor and are heavily burdened and I will give you rest”. Their activism and protest became an embodiment that is heralded through religious, spiritual and social emancipation.
